Newsletter April 2016

The PIL newsletter is published twice a year (April and October). This is a condensed version in English.

Welcome to PIL!

The PIL Unit is an arena for university-level pedagogical development and interactive learning at the University of Gothenburg.

Digital written examinations

University of Gothenburg is implementing a system for digital written examinations. Students will bring their own computers to these examinations. Alternatively, they can borrow a computer from the University.

The system, called Inspera, is already in use at the universities in Bergen and Oslo. The system locks the students' computers, preventing them from searching the Internet, using a USB stick or communicating digitally with others.

The aim is that the system will be useful not only for the students but also for course administrators, course leaders, proctors, teachers and examinators.

During spring 2016, a hall for digital written examinations is equipped at Viktoriagatan 30, with room for 110 students. The project group plans to hold a few digital written examinations in this hall during May/June 2016.

During the autumn, the project group plans to hold as many digital written examinations as the University's teachers want and the organisation can handle. Responsible administrators and involved teachers will be offered a course to learn the system. More information to all concerned will be sent out during the spring.
