The PIL Unit is an arena for pedagogical development and interactive learning at the University of Gothenburg.

Poised for Canvas – a new learning management system

University of Gothenburg has signed a letter of intent to subscribe to the learning management system Canvas by Instructure, as the future replacement for Ping Pong (GUL).

Preparations for a formal decision to adopt Canvas at the University of Gothenburg are underway within the scope of a pre-study which is scheduled to be completed during the month of May.

"After ten years with Ping Pong we now see the end of an era before us. Canvas is a modern and stable platform that will help us form a digital support that meets the university's needs," says Maria Sunnerstam, assistant head of the PIL unit and also system owner for GUL.

Conference on Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (HKG 2017)

The Gothenburg Conference on Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (HKG 2017) takes place on 26 October 2017. The conference theme: Roads to Pedagogical Development.

The conference is open for everybody at the University of Gothenburg with an interest in teaching and learning in higher education.

Teaching staff is welcome to share their knowledge, experience and reflections. If you submit an abstract to the conference and the abstract is accepted, you are welcome to hold your presentation in English.

  • Teaching and Learning in Higher Education 1: Basic Course, 5 hec (HPE101)
  • Teaching and Learning in Higher Education 2: Subject Field Pedagogy, 5 hec (HPE102)
  • Teaching and Learning in Higher Education 3: Applied Analysis, 5 hec (HPE103)
  • Supervision in Postgraduate Programmes, 5 hec (HPE201)

Web resource: Teachers' Guide

The Teachers' Guide is a web resource for teachers, tutors and supervisors at the University of Gothenburg. Located in the Staff Portal, the guide is a collection of links that leads to governing national rules and local policy documents as well as to university-wide resources and contacts. The guide is available in Swedish and English.

Interactive web course on academic integrity

PIL and the University Library have developed an interactive web course on academic integrity, aimed at both teachers and students. The student part of the web course is available in English as well as Swedish.

Workshops: Teaching with Adobe Connect

Adobe Connect is a tool for e-meetings. PIL offers workshops on Adobe Connect for teachers. If you want a workshop in English, please contact Svante Eriksson.

PIL offers workshop for teachers on how to make films for educational purposes. If you want a workshop in English, please contact Svante Eriksson.

The PIL Studio

The PIL studio offers the opportunity for university staff to produce their own teaching material. In the studio you can film and edit lectures, interviews, conversations etc for teaching purposes.
