Presentationen har titeln Why form matters: Good education beyond agendas and outcomes. Gert Biesta är verksam vid University of Edinburgh samt Maynooth University på Irland. Han är författare till en lång rad böcker, varav flera finns på litteraturlistorna för PIL-enhetens kurser.
Biestas egna ord om presentationen: Over the past decades, two rather unhelpful ideas about good education have emerged. One is that education is 'all about learning'. The other is that education is a matter of generating the right 'learning outcomes'. What both suggestions seem to forget, is that education is not just anything, but that it has a rather precise and specific form, in which teaching plays a crucial role. In my presentation I will, firstly, explore why and how the specific form(s) of education matter. Against this background I will reflect on the ways in which the familiar forms of education have been interrupted and perhaps disrupted by the pandemic, and what this may mean for the future of education 'after' this experience.
