The PIL newsletter is published twice a year (April and October). This is a condensed version in English.
The PIL Unit promotes pedagogical development and interactive learning at the University of Gothenburg.
The autumn 2022 PIL courses will open for applications on Wednesday 20 April, tentatively around 9:00 am. Places are limited and will be assigned on a "first come first served" basis. The courses may quickly be fully booked, so don't wait to apply. If you belong to Sahlgrenska Academy, please note the information below!

Do you belong to Sahlgrenska Academy (or VGR)? Then you must use a special application form for the courses PIL101, PIL103 and PIL201. Application period for Sahlgrenska: 28 March – 1 May. After that period, submitted applications are ranked by your department.

We are living in times of environmental, social and economic crisis. At such a critical moment of planetary and societal history, education plays a critical role to equip students with the required knowledge, skills and attitude, and this has resulted in the development of the broad concept of Education for Sustainable Development, ESD.

Building connectedness and belonging in online learning environments: Exploring possibilities
Seminar with Sue Pawley, Cath Brown, Chris Kubiak and Liz Hardie, Open University. The seminar is held in Zoom.

Get free help with the issues that crop up when developing a new course (or course modules) using digital tools. We can help with matters such as examination, participation and distance-learning activities, as well as how to use a computer in the classroom, lab or seminar room. Help is given in Swedish or English.

The PIL studio offers the university's teachers the opportunity to produce their own teaching material such as lectures, interviews, conversations etc. PIL staff with pedagogical and technical knowledge helps with the recording and editing, and provides advice. On request, we can also make films outside the studio. The finished film is usually delivered via the university's video portal GU Play.
Joseph Trotta at the Department of Languages & Literatures is this year's first excellent teacher at the University of Gothenburg. Congratulations from the PIL Unit!
