Sharing culture for education, widening participation and knowledge creation (DURK)

This cross-university project will develop models and structures for open web-based free education. Research and education are increasingly taking place in open forms and in collaboration across borders between disciplines and between researchers, teachers, students and citizens.

The goals of the project are:

  • to develop sustainable models and infrastructures, based on a culture of sharing and knowledge exchange,
  • to disseminate knowledge about open education and develop and test an open course at each faculty.

The project is ongoing 2020–2021.

About the project

In a Vice-Chancellor's decision dated 20th August 2020, the unit for pedagogical development and interactive learning (PIL) was commissioned to run the project Sharing culture for education, widening participation and knowledge creation at the University of Gothenburg. The project is a collaboration between the PIL unit and Gothenburg University Library and aims to develop models and structures for open education and to develop at least one open education course within socially relevant areas of knowledge at each faculty.

The project's activities are carried out at departmental, faculty and university level and are conducted in line with the university's pedagogical principles as a competence development strategy for academic teaching, collegial collaboration and collaborative learning.
