Infrastructure for net-based teaching and blended learning (INU)

The University of Gothenburg has decided to extend the university-wide infrastructure for net-based learning and blended learning.

This strategic investment aims to increase the opportunities for students and teachers who wish to use digital educational resources in teaching and learning. In a long-term perspective it is expected to lead to skilled and dedicated students, a stimulating working and learning environment, increased access to new educational tools and also to contribute to the University's objective of sustainable development.

The project (INU) will be managed by the unit for Pedagogical Development and Interactive Learning (PIL) during 2015–2018 in close collaboration with the eight faculties and various units of the central university administration.

Digital examination (DEX)

This subproject aims to procure a system for digital exams, to prepare the management and also to carry out some digital examinations in collaboration with selected departments during 2016. From January 2017 the system will be available for all departments. Initially, the digital examinations will primarily take place in the central university examination hall at Viktoriagatan.

Video and video meetings in education (VidU)

This subproject aims to increase the ability to use video and to have video meetings for education at the University of Gothenburg. Two large lecture halls at each faculty will be equipped with technology for recording and streaming of lectures. This step in the subproject is expected to close in the autumn of 2018. The subproject also deals with WebRTC and the integration of Sunet Play (Kaltura MediaSpace) into the university-wide learning plattform (GUL). The new services are expected to be integrated and available for teachers and students during 2016.

Digital pedagogical tools (DigiPed)

This subproject aims to test different digital teaching resources and to investigate whether they may be of interest to teachers at the University of Gothenburg in the future. During 2015–2016 a pilot has been launched with the LMS platform Canvas. The subproject also deals with the future university-wide learning platform (GUL2). The subproject is involved in a national collaboration concerning generic demands that Higher Education puts on learning platforms now and in the future.

Active learning classroom (ALC)

This subproject aims to design and test a classroom at the Faculty of Education according to the ALC concept and to use it as demonstration hall for teachers at the university. The subproject also supports departments that plan to invest in active learning classrooms at the eight faculties.

Assistance and support for blended learning (SoS)

This subproject prepares for training and support of personnel, as the INU project activities will put new demands on teachers and administrators at the University.
