Conference on Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (HKG 2017)

The Gothenburg Conference on Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (HKG 2017) takes place on 26 October 2017. The conference theme: Roads to Pedagogical Development.

The conference is open for everybody at the University of Gothenburg with an interest in teaching and learning in higher education.

Teaching staff is welcome to share their knowledge, experience and reflections. Deadline for submitting abstracts was 17 August. A few presentations will be held in English.

  • Activating learning at the University. Keynote by Michael Christie, who will participate by distance, using video conference technology. The speech will be held in English.

    Michael Christie has formerly worked at Stockholm University, where he was Sweden's first Professor of Higher Education, and Chalmers. He is now an Associate Professor in the School of Education, University of the Sunshine Coast in Australia, where he teaches Masters courses and conducts research into active learning in Higher Education, the use of digital tools in teaching and learning, efficacious ways of supporting the PhD process and criteria referenced assessment.
  • Students' sense of being prepared. Keynote by Annika Fjelkner, Kristianstad University. Annika Fjelkner presents a research project that shows that students have difficulties in judging how well prepared they are for their studies.The speech will be held in Swedish. 
  • The impact of student feedback on teaching in higher education. Jonas Flodén (Department of Business Administration) presents a study on teachers' perceptions of student feedback and how it affects their teaching choices. The presentation is followed by a panel discussion. The presentation and the discussion will be held in Swedish.
